Welcome Message
from the President of the Korean Prostate Society

Dear Members and Colleagues,

It is a great honor and privilege to address you as the newly appointed President of The Korean Prostate Society (KPS). I am Jae Young Joung from the National Cancer Center, and I am deeply committed to serving our distinguished community with dedication and purpose.

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my predecessor, Professor Sung Kyu Hong, and to all former presidents and executive members whose invaluable contributions have shaped the growth and excellence of KPS. Thanks to their tireless efforts, KPS has established itself as a leading academic society devoted to the study and advancement of care for prostate diseases.

As Korea rapidly transitions into a super-aged society, the burden of prostate conditions—such as prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and prostatitis—is becoming increasingly significant. Notably, prostate cancer has shown a sharp rise in incidence, emerging as one of the fastest growing malignancies among Korean men. In this context, the role of KPS has never been more critical.

Over the past years, KPS has strengthened its academic foundation, including the successful inclusion of Prostate International in the Science Citation Index (SCI), and has made remarkable progress in both clinical and translational research. As we move forward, we will expand our commitment to academic excellence by fostering deeper international collaboration, enhancing knowledge exchange, and promoting multidisciplinary research.

We will continue to build bridges with leading institutions and scholars around the world, broadening the global influence of KPS. While we uphold the values and legacy that have guided our society thus far, we are also committed to embracing the evolving landscape of medicine and research. With innovation, inclusivity, and foresight, we aim to meet the future challenges and elevate the standard of care for patients suffering from prostate diseases.

To all members of KPS, I thank you for entrusting me with this meaningful responsibility. I sincerely ask for your continued support, active engagement, and shared vision as we shape the next chapter of our society together.

Thank you.
